Herbal third-party manufacturing for your brand
Third-party manufacturing lets you sell Ayurvedic and herbal products under your own brand without building a factory. You choose the formulation, the pack and the label; production, packing and documentation are handled for you; the finished goods arrive with your name on them. Zivi Herbals takes on third-party and contract manufacturing enquiries for herbal syrups, tablets and capsules, oils, powders, juices and cosmetic preparations, working from our catalogue of 168 formulations or from a composition you bring to us.
This page explains the process step by step, what you need to provide, and the questions worth asking any manufacturing partner before you commit.
Why brands choose third-party manufacturing
- No capital tied up in plant. Manufacturing space, machinery, testing equipment and trained staff are a large fixed cost. Third-party manufacturing turns that into a per-batch cost.
- Faster launch. Working from an existing formulation, a brand can go from enquiry to finished goods in weeks rather than the months a new facility takes.
- Smaller starting batches. You can test a market with a modest quantity before scaling.
- Focus on selling. Your effort goes into distribution, prescribers and marketing rather than production planning.
The two routes
1. Ready formulations from our catalogue
The quickest route is to pick products from our existing range. The composition, pack size and process are already settled, so only your artwork, label and quantity have to be agreed. Browse the eight ranges on the products page — herbal syrups, tablets and capsules, pediatric products, Ayurvedic cosmetics, other herbal products, juices, classical preparations and single-herb capsules.
2. Your own composition
If you already have a composition, share it with the intended dosage form and pack. We will review feasibility — ingredient availability, dosage form suitability and packing — and come back with what can be produced, in what pack sizes and at what minimum quantity.
How the process works
- Enquiry. Send the product list or composition, dosage form, pack size and approximate quantity. The more specific the list, the faster the quotation.
- Quotation. You receive per-unit pricing against the quantity and pack you asked for, along with the minimum order quantity for each item.
- Documentation. You provide your firm's documents — drug licence, GST registration, and the trademark or brand-name paperwork for the name that will appear on the pack.
- Artwork and label. You supply the artwork, or we prepare a layout to your brief. Labels must carry the declarations required by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the applicable rules for Ayurvedic products — composition, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates, net quantity, MRP and the manufacturer's details.
- Sample and approval. Where the brief requires it, a sample or a proof of the printed label is shared for your written approval before the batch runs.
- Production and packing. The batch is produced, filled and packed with your labels and cartons.
- Dispatch. Finished goods are dispatched with the invoice and the batch documents for your records.
What you need to provide
- Drug licence for your firm (retail, wholesale or manufacturing, as applicable to your business).
- GST registration.
- Brand name and trademark status. Registered, or applied for, so that the name on the pack is yours to use.
- Artwork in a printable format, or a brief for us to work from.
- Product list with quantities so the quotation reflects the real order.
If you are new to this, ask us before you spend money on artwork. Label requirements for Ayurvedic products are specific, and correcting a printed label after the fact is the most common avoidable cost in a first order.
Dosage forms we take enquiries for
- Liquid orals — syrups and tonics, typically 100 ml and 200 ml.
- Solid orals — tablets and capsules in blister packs, commonly 10×10.
- Juices — herbal juices in bottles.
- Oils and liniments — external-use oils in a range of pack sizes.
- Powders and granules — including single-herb powders.
- Creams, ointments and soaps — the Ayurvedic cosmetic category.
Pack sizes outside the standard list can usually be arranged, subject to packing material availability and the quantity involved.
Questions to ask any manufacturing partner
These are the questions we are happy to answer in writing, and we suggest you ask them of anyone you approach:
- What is the minimum order quantity for each product and pack?
- What is the realistic lead time from purchase order to dispatch?
- Which documents come with the batch?
- Who is responsible for artwork compliance, and who signs off the proof?
- What happens if a batch is delayed or a pack is short?
- Is the quoted rate inclusive of packing material, and what changes it?
A partner who answers these clearly before the order is the partner you want on your third order, not only your first.
Costs and timelines
Pricing depends on the formulation, pack size, packing material and quantity, so there is no single rate card. Quantity is the largest lever: the same product at a larger batch size lowers the per-unit cost meaningfully. Lead times depend on packing material and artwork approval more often than on production itself — brands that supply approved artwork early receive goods sooner.
Send your list and we will quote against it, including the minimum quantity per item so you can plan working capital properly.
